Privacy Policy

How we collect, use, disclose and protect the personal information you give us when you book or attend a fingerprinting appointment at our Delta, BC office.

Who this policy applies to

This policy applies to Acuity Fingerprint Solutions Inc. and to every appointment, enquiry and submission handled at our office at Unit 302 – 6935 120 Street, Delta, BC V4E 2A8. It is written to reflect our obligations under British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and, where applicable, the federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

Information we collect

We collect only the information required to capture your fingerprints and submit a valid electronic transaction on your behalf.

  • Identity details: legal name, any previous or alternate names, date of birth, sex, place of birth and citizenship.
  • Contact details: mailing address, telephone number and email address.
  • Application details: the purpose of your fingerprinting, and the name of the agency, employer or authority requesting it.
  • Biometric data: your fingerprint images, captured electronically on a Livescan device.
  • Payment records: the amount paid, method of payment and receipt number. We do not store full card numbers.

Why we collect it

Your information is collected for the sole purpose of completing the service you have requested: verifying your identity, capturing your fingerprints, preparing a compliant electronic transaction, submitting it through an RCMP-accredited Direct Connect agency, and communicating with you about your appointment or your submission.

We do not use your personal information for marketing, profiling or any secondary purpose, and we do not sell, rent or trade it.

Consent

We collect and submit your fingerprints only with your knowledge and written consent, obtained at the time of your appointment. You may withdraw consent at any point before your transaction is submitted; once a transaction has been transmitted to the RCMP it cannot be recalled by us. Withdrawing consent may mean we are unable to complete the service.

Who we disclose it to

Your fingerprints and the accompanying application data are transmitted to the RCMP Canadian Criminal Real Time Identification Services (CCRTIS) through an RCMP-accredited Direct Connect agency. Where you have authorised it in writing, results may be directed to a third party you nominate, such as an employer, lawyer or consultant.

We do not disclose your information to anyone else except where required or permitted by law.

How we protect it

Fingerprint capture takes place in a private, enclosed room. Access to our capture workstation is restricted to trained and screened staff and protected by individual credentials. Fingerprint transactions are submitted electronically over a secured connection. Physical records are held in a locked cabinet in a secured area of the office, and the premises are alarmed outside business hours.

Retention and destruction

Personal information is retained only as long as necessary to complete the service and to satisfy record-keeping obligations imposed on accredited fingerprinting sites. Fingerprint images are not retained locally after a transaction is successfully submitted. Records that are no longer required are destroyed by cross-cut shredding or secure digital deletion.

Website analytics

This website uses a privacy-preserving analytics service, Vercel Analytics, to count page views and understand which pages people find useful. It records the page address, the referring site, and general details about your device and browser such as screen size, browser type, operating system and country.

It does not set cookies, does not store an identifier on your device, and does not follow you across other websites. Because there is no cookie or persistent identifier, no consent banner is required for it under Canadian privacy law — but you can block it with any standard content blocker or by enabling your browser's "do not track" setting, and nothing on this site will stop working if you do.

The appointment details you enter are deliberately kept out of analytics. Page addresses are stripped of their query strings before any measurement is recorded, so the name, service, date and time shown on your confirmation page are never sent to the analytics service. Nothing you type into a form on this site — and no fingerprint, identity-document or criminal-history information — is passed into analytics at any point.

Access, correction and complaints

You may request access to the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it, by writing to info@acuityfingerprint.com or calling 778-318-1973. We will respond within the time limits set by applicable privacy legislation.

Requests for access to your criminal record information held by the RCMP must be made to the RCMP directly, not to Acuity. If you are not satisfied with how we have handled your information, you may contact our Privacy Officer at the address above, and you retain the right to complain to the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia.
