How to pay
Payment is taken at your appointment by card — credit, debit and mobile wallets — processed by our payment provider, Stripe. Card details are handled by Stripe and are never stored by Acuity or on this website. No payment is collected through the booking form.

Adoption (Canada / International)
Fingerprinting for a domestic or international adoption application.
Provincial adoption authorities, licensed adoption agencies and the receiving country in an international adoption generally ask for a fingerprint-based check at the home-study or dossier stage, for each adult applicant.

Business Permit / Liquor Licensing
Fingerprinting in support of a business permit or liquor licence application.
Municipal licensing offices and provincial liquor and cannabis regulators normally require a fingerprint-based check for the owners, directors and managers named on the application.

Canadian Citizenship

IRCC asks for fingerprints when a name-based search cannot confirm your identity or your file needs a certified result. Attend once you have IRCC’s written request, and bring it with you.

Canadian PR Status
Fingerprinting for permanent resident (PR) status in Canada.
IRCC’s fingerprint request sets a deadline and states where the certified result must be sent, which is usually back to IRCC rather than to you.

Criminal Record Modification
Fingerprinting to correct or update the information held on a criminal record.
Used where the record held on CPIC is inaccurate, incomplete or has been associated with the wrong person. Fingerprints are how the RCMP establishes which record is actually yours before it can be amended.

Federal Employment / Security Clearance
Fingerprinting for federal government employment or a personnel security clearance.
Reliability status and secret or top-secret clearances are fingerprint-based. The request is initiated by a departmental security officer, or through the PSPC Contract Security Program for contractors.

The federal fee is waived where the request comes from a departmental security officer. Bring the request or clearance paperwork you were sent.
Name Change (Legal)
Fingerprinting for a legal name change in Canada.
Provincial vital statistics agencies require a fingerprint-based criminal record check with an adult legal name-change application, and the certified result is normally returned to that agency rather than to you.

Personal Use / Privacy Act
Fingerprinting for personal use or a Privacy Act request, including prints used to support a US green card or spousal immigration application.
A Privacy Act request gives you a copy of the record the RCMP holds on you. It is the route most often used when USCIS wants a certified Canadian police certificate for a green card or spousal sponsorship package.

Police Employment
Fingerprinting for police employment — RCMP regular member, civilian member or civilian employee, a Canadian police force, or a PROS user.
Police services fingerprint applicants as part of pre-employment security screening, and the same applies to civilian staff and to anyone being granted access to police records systems.

Private Employment
Fingerprinting requested by a private-sector employer.
Employers ask for a fingerprint-based check when a name-based search returns a possible match that has to be ruled out, or when the role is safety-sensitive, financial or otherwise a position of trust.

Professional Licensing Application
Fingerprinting for professional licensing — realtors, insurance agents, immigration consultants and comparable regulated occupations.
Regulators such as the BC Financial Services Authority, the Insurance Council of BC and the College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants may require a certified check at licensing, renewal or reinstatement.

Provincial ministries, health authorities, school districts and Crown corporations commonly require fingerprint-based screening for positions of trust or for access to sensitive systems.

Record Suspension / Pardon Application
Fingerprinting for a record suspension application, formerly called a pardon.
The Parole Board of Canada requires a recent fingerprint-based criminal record check as part of the application package, so most applicants start here and build the rest of the package around the result. The Parole Board decides the application, not Acuity.

Security Worker License Application
Fingerprinting for a security worker licence issued by the BC Ministry of Public Safety.
BC’s Security Programs Division licenses security guards, alarm and locksmith work and related roles under the Security Services Act, and requires a criminal record check by fingerprint before a licence is issued.

If you hold Form SPD 0507 — Request for Fingerprinting Under the Security Services Act — the $25 RCMP fee is billed directly to the BC Ministry of Public Safety rather than to you. Bring that form to your appointment.
US Visa Waiver
Fingerprinting for a US visa waiver, or entry waiver, application.
A US entry waiver package — Form I-192, filed with US Customs and Border Protection — is normally expected to include a recent RCMP certified criminal record check based on fingerprints.

Visa / Foreign Travel / Work / Border Crossing
Fingerprinting for a visa, foreign travel, overseas work or a border crossing, and for citizenship or immigration applications to countries other than Canada.
Consulates, foreign licensing bodies and overseas employers ask for a Canadian police certificate. Some countries also require the certificate to be authenticated and legalized after the RCMP issues it, which is a separate step handled by Global Affairs Canada and the consulate.

Volunteer Employment
Fingerprinting for an unpaid volunteer position.
The RCMP waives its federal fee for qualifying unpaid volunteer work, which is why the organization’s letter matters — it is the evidence that the position is genuinely unpaid.

Bring two pieces of government-issued identification and a written request letter from the organization you volunteer with, on its letterhead, confirming that the position is unpaid. That letter is what waives the $25 RCMP fee — without it, the $25 is charged in addition to the service fee.
Vulnerability Sector Check
Fingerprinting requested as part of a vulnerable sector check. We capture and submit the prints; the check itself is completed by the requesting agency, not by Acuity.
In BC, work or volunteering with children or vulnerable adults runs through the Criminal Records Review Program, which asks for fingerprints only when a name-based search cannot rule out a match. Attend once CRRP or the police service has sent you that request.

Generally no $25 RCMP fee
Canadian citizenship; immigration to Canada; federal employment requested by a departmental security officer; Privacy Act requests; qualifying volunteer work; and certain Indigenous name-reclamation cases.
Generally subject to the $25 RCMP fee
Private or provincial employment; professional licensing; record suspension; legal name change; adoption; US entry waiver; foreign travel or overseas employment; student placement; sponsorship; and other non-exempt purposes.
The $25 federal fee is set by the RCMP, not by Acuity, and is passed through at cost. GST does not apply to the service fee. This guide describes the general pattern — we confirm the fee that applies to you against your request letter before your appointment.

Everything below is part of the $60 Acuity service fee. Government fees are separate, set by the receiving agency and passed through at cost.

Changes, late arrivals and refunds
The short version is below. The full wording, which is what applies, is in our cancellation and refund policy.
Cancelling or rescheduling
Reschedule or cancel at no charge with at least 24 hours notice. With less than 24 hours notice, or a missed appointment, a missed-appointment fee may apply — where it does, we disclose it before you book.

Please arrive ten minutes before your appointment time. If you arrive more than fifteen minutes late we may not be able to finish the capture within your slot and may ask you to rebook.

If we cannot proceed because acceptable identification is missing or the purpose is not an eligible civil purpose, the service fee is not charged, or is refunded in full if already taken. Once a transaction is submitted, government fees cannot be refunded by Acuity, and no refund is available on the basis of the result or how long the RCMP takes.

Questions about what you pay
If your request letter names a fee we have not mentioned, bring it to us — government and agency fees vary by application type and are not set by Acuity.
What do the fees cover?
The Acuity service fee is $60 for digital fingerprinting — identity verification, Livescan capture, image quality review and electronic submission. GST is not applied to this fee. Where the RCMP charges a federal fee for your application type, a further $25 is collected on the RCMP’s behalf and remitted in full. Both amounts are shown to you separately before you confirm.
When and how do I pay?

What if my fingerprints cannot be read clearly?
Worn, cracked or heavily calloused fingertips sometimes affect capture. We review image quality on the spot and recapture during the same appointment at no extra service fee. If a submission is later rejected for a reason attributable to our capture or data entry, we recapture and resubmit without a further Acuity service fee — where a rejection results from information you supplied, a further government fee may apply. In rare cases where electronic capture is not possible, we will explain the alternatives available for your application type.
Can my whole family be fingerprinted together?
Each applicant needs their own appointment because each set of prints is a separate transaction. Tell us in the booking form how many people are attending and we will let you know which consecutive times we can offer.
Can you commit to a completion date?
No. Searching, adjudication and release of the result are performed by the RCMP rather than by us, so we cannot commit to a date on which your result will be available. What we control is capturing quality prints and submitting them promptly.
