Record Suspension Applications
Fingerprints required as part of a record suspension application. We capture and submit the prints; the Parole Board of Canada decides the application.
Application types covered
- Pardon / Record Suspension Application
Acuity captures and submits the fingerprints. We do not determine whether you are eligible for a record suspension, and we do not prepare the complete Parole Board of Canada application package unless that work is separately contracted and agreed in writing. Eligibility and the decision itself rest with the Parole Board. Two timelines are involved, and they are not the same: the RCMP processing time covers only the return of your certified criminal record check, while the Parole Board sets its own, considerably longer service standard for deciding the application after it receives your completed package. Neither timeline is set or controlled by Acuity.
The federal fee for this purpose
Record suspension applications are generally subject to the $25 RCMP federal fee in addition to the $60 service fee. The Parole Board of Canada charges its own application fee, which is paid to the Parole Board and is not collected by Acuity.
The federal fee is set by the RCMP, not by Acuity, and is passed through at cost. GST does not apply to the service fee. We confirm the fee that applies to you against your request letter before your appointment.

- Two pieces of valid, original government-issued identification
- At least one identification document containing a photograph
- Your fingerprint request letter, instructions or file number
- Name and address of the organization receiving the result
Processing times
Processing times are set by the RCMP, not by Acuity. Where fingerprints do not match a criminal record, processing may take three business days or less. Applications requiring manual processing, or involving a possible match, may take approximately 120 business days. Mailing time is additional. Acuity Fingerprint Solutions does not control processing or delivery times.
Note — These processing times apply only to the RCMP criminal-record-check component. They do not include mailing time or processing by IRCC, the Parole Board of Canada, a foreign government, an employer, a licensing body or another requesting organization.
Official guidance
Requirements are set by the organization that asked for your fingerprints and can change without notice. Where their letter or instructions differ from anything on this page, follow their instructions, and bring the letter to your appointment so we can submit the transaction the way they need it.

Acuity Fingerprint Solutions Inc. is an RCMP-accredited affiliate fingerprinting company. Electronic fingerprint transactions are securely submitted to CCRTIS through an RCMP-accredited Direct Connect agency.
Record Suspension Applications — frequently asked
The questions we are asked most often about this application type. Where your request letter says something different, follow the letter and bring it with you.
Can you tell me whether I am eligible for a record suspension?
No. Eligibility and the decision itself rest with the Parole Board of Canada. We capture and submit the fingerprints that form part of your application.
Do you prepare the Parole Board application for me?
Not as part of this service. We do not prepare the complete Parole Board of Canada application package unless that work is separately contracted and agreed in writing.
How long does a record suspension take?
Two timelines are involved, and they are not the same. The RCMP processing time covers only the return of your certified criminal record check. The Parole Board sets its own, considerably longer service standard for deciding the application after it receives your completed package. Neither timeline is set or controlled by Acuity.
Is the Parole Board fee included?
No. Record suspension applications are generally subject to the $25 RCMP federal fee in addition to the $60 service fee. The Parole Board of Canada charges its own application fee, which is paid to the Parole Board and is not collected by Acuity.
Can you commit to a completion date?
No. Searching, adjudication and release of the result are performed by the RCMP rather than by us, so we cannot commit to a date on which your result will be available. What we control is capturing quality prints and submitting them promptly.
